Maungakawa Road

Over 10 years ago we completed an outdoor BBQ area high in the hills above Cambridge at a property that has the most amazing views over the Waikato basin.

Fast forward a few years and we returned to implement a design, from Sheryn Brownlee at Environs, that incorporated a free-standing Narellan pool.  We altered the original BBQ into an outdoor fire area, and without compromising this space, we created a pine deck around the pool.  All the while maintaining the view and surrounding planting as the hero.

Clever design of a retaining wall below the pool meant that fencing does not hinder the view and remains compliant with pool regulations. Generous space between the entry gate and the deck allowed for dynamic steps that are a feature rather than just a necessity.
